Today I want to share how to make this cute Minnie pillow! If you missed my Mickey pillow post check here. I will be following the same step by step process as the Mickey pillow. I will just share the differences on this post.
Don’t forget your supplies! I used my Sizzix Big Shot Plus and the circle die that comes with the starter kit. If you don’t have the circle die that come with this machine then these two dies will work found here and here. And don’t forget the Heat n Bond!
Place the Minnie silhouette as you would like it. I tucked the smaller circles behind the large circle to make the silhouette. Then press into place.
Do you remember the Sizzix blog post 5 Minute Hair bows that I did? I saved all of the bow pieces that I didn’t use for future projects! The bow die can be found here. I knew this bow would be perfect for Minnie! I cut off the edges of the bow because I didn’t want it 3-D. It was a great fit!
Place the bow where you would like and stitch around it. I used felt for the bow so it won’t fray at all!
I put the zipper in the back of the pillow instead of at the bottom like the Mickey pillow. I followed a great zipper tutorial for pillows by Allison Jensen (@woodberry_way). You can find it in her instagram account.
The other difference from the Mickey pillow is that I bound the pillow. Sew the pillow front and back together just like on the Mickey pillow. Then I cut two binding strips at 2.25″ and bound the pillow. Use your favorite binding method. I sew my binding to the front and then flip the binding around to the back. I stitch in the ditch from the front of the pillow to sew the back binding down.
And you are done! Enjoy your Minnie pillow!
