Threadology Quilt Backing

This is my last post for the Threadology Quilt Along! (Well until I get this all quilted!) I have had so much fun quilting along with The Fat Quarter Shop!

I have a confession, I have never pieced a backing like this. But let me tell you, I’m converted! Especially when this fun package arrived from The Fat Quarter Shop. I love having extra blocks on the back! It is sew cute!

Backing package

The FREE pattern can be found here or you can view the video tutorial here. I used the quilt kit for my backing which is sold out. But you can get the yardage requirements here and purchase the yardage from The Fat Quarter Shop. Don’t forget to grab your favorite Aurifil thread to stitch these up!

The Backing pattern consists of the following blocks we made previously! You can check out my previous blog posts on each block for tips and tricks! Spoiler alert, most of the time I used FORK PINS to help with my piecing.

Sew these together according to the pattern directions. Cut out your other backing fabrics. This seriously goes together so fast! And is super cute! I think that tape measure fabric is my favorite!

Now I just have to decide how to quilt this up! Any suggestions?

Threadology Quilt Finish

Hi and welcome to the final weeks of the Threadology Quilt Along with The Fat Quarter Shop! This quilt has been sew much fun to put together! Now all of your hard work will pay off as you can see the quilt top come together!

The FREE finishing pattern can be found here or you can view the video tutorial here. I used the quilt kit (which is sold out) but you can make it with Little Snippets by Bonnie and Camille and these fabric requirements.

Sewing my rows together!

I sewed the 6 inch blocks together in groups of two or three depending on placement.

TIP: I am sure it will come as not surprise that I used my FORK PINS to assemble this quilt top. There are so many seams that I wanted it to line up just right. These fork pins kept the blocks in place so no points were lost in the assembly.

I also used my favorite Aurifil thread to sew these blocks together.

Sewing big blocks to little blocks!

Once I sewed the 6 inch blocks together, I sewed the group of two blocks to the big block. Then you can start sewing the larger units together. Don’t forget to use your fork pins! Then you add your borders!

Finished Quilt Top

I love all of these blocks together! I can’t decide which one is my favorite!

The Fat Quarter Shop is donating to the Make a Wish Foundation Central and South Texas for this charity quilt along. If you would like to donate click on this link here. They have already raised over $20,000 which is amazing!
