It’s my turn on A Festive Collection by Liberty of London project tour by Riley Blake! I have always loved Liberty of London fabrics. I am so excited that Riley Blake has Liberty of London cottons!
My favorite thing about this line are all of the metallic accents. I love the sparkly gold fabric so much that I used it as the background! Nothing says the holiday season without a little sparkle. I also added a few Riley Blake Confetti Cottons.
I can’t make any project without my favorite tools. One of my new favorite tools is the planner by Shannon, Plan to Quilt. I am usually working on a number of different projects at a time. This planner helps me keep all of the details straight; like which thread color and weight I am using, and any other details specific to that project. You can check out my in-depth review on my Instagram highlights. You can find this planner here and if you use my coupon code SMITTENCHICKEN you can get 10% off!
I have also completely converted to Aurifil Thread. I love being an Aurifil Artisan. This thread is 100% cotton and made in Italy. My machine loves it and so do I! I used 50 weight to quilt this up and it left the most amazing texture. My Olfa rotary cutter and cute pink Oliso iron are must haves. A girl has got to have her tools!
I had the opportunity to teach a virtual class at my local quilt shop Pins and Needles. I taught my latest pattern Log Cabin-ish and used this fabric line, A Festive Collection. It was so much fun to get to sew along with friends during this crazy year!
Did you know that Riley Blake has a line of basics called Sparkle? Since it is a basic, it doesn’t go ‘out of print’ like other fabric lines. As soon as I saw these sparkly gold snowflakes, I knew it would make the perfect backing for my Festive Collection quilt! And a little heads up, I have another fun Sparkle project coming your way in December. I can’t wait to share it!
I absolutely LOVE how this quilt turned out. I even found some pine trees to take pics with to make it look more festive! The mix of reds and greens and little bit of blue make the perfect holiday quilt.
The prints in this fabric line are so much fun! I love the trees, little houses, birds and mini ornaments. This fabric represent all of the cozy feelings of the Holiday Season. My plan is to cuddle up with this quilt and watch ALL the Christmas movies!
One thing I absolutely love about this quilt pattern I designed is the flexibility that it provides. I really want everyone who makes a Log Cabin-ish quilt to create a quilt that represents YOU! I designed the center square to be large enough to personalize. I chose to quilt a holiday motif in the center of each quilt block. My Tula Pink Bernina came with all sorts of fun Holiday themed quilting designs. Aren’t these little bells so cute? Some people in my class decided to add a smaller quilt block to the center. I love the flexibility this pattern has!
I had to share a quilt swirl pic! Isn’t this metallic gold so cute? I love it!
Now that my quilt is done I am all ready for the Holiday Season! Thanks for stopping by today. If you would like to see more of what I’m up to, you can follow me on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and my brand new YouTube Channel (still a work in progress!)
