I am sewing up my Serendipity quilt in Bonnie and Camille’s fabric line Shine On. It is such a cute line with their classic aquas and pinks! My favorite print in this line is the mums! They are sew cute!
Release five or the Fateful blocks are some of my favorites! These oversized flower blocks are so cute! I had fun pairing the center of the flowers with the outer petals. I think I found some fun combinations.
I started by making the centers of the flowers. I had to keep my eye on these pink rainbows so I could keep them directional! The little star points create a little bit of bulk. To keep these blocks nice and flat I use what I call the pressing dream team! I absolutely love my mini Oliso iron! It gets super hot and is the perfect size to keep by my sewing machine. And it’s pink! Once I press my blocks, I place my Riley Blake Designs clapper on top. This keeps the heat in and makes my blocks so flat! If you haven’t tried this combo out, do it! Everyone needs the pressing dream team!
Once I had my centers constructed, I moved on to the outside. I am using the navy rainbows as my accent piece in this quilt. I do all of my piecing with my favorite Aurifil thread! I use 2021 for everything! I like 50 wt. for piecing and quilting. I recently had to switch to a cone since I was going through so much thread!
All of my Fateful flowers are pieced! I love these blocks so much! I can’t decide which block is my favorite. Maybe the navy mums! I am a bit partial to that print. These blocks are about in the center of the quilt and I can’t wait to see them all put together.
I am using this Ikea sewing box to store all of my blocks. It is so cute and fits all of my blocks. I love these Fateful flowers!
