Hi friends! It’s time for another release with the Serendipity Quilt Along! The Serendipity Quilt Along is hosted by the Fat Quarter Shop. They host a charity quilt along every year. This year all donations are to benefit Make A Wish Central and South Texas. I am excited to be sewing along with the Fat Quarter Shop this year!
I am using Bonnie and Camille’s fabric line Shine On to create my Serendipity quilt. I am a huge Bonnie and Camille fan! I love the pinks and aquas. Shine On is such a bright and happy fabric line.
This week’s release, the Happenstance row, looks a lot like release number 2! You can see these cute flying geese with the Happy Chance row too. I love flying geese blocks. You can assemble them the traditional way as stated in the pattern. Or you can use 1.5″x 3″ Flying Geese Quilt Block Foundation Paper. Both are great options to assemble these little guys. The free pattern can be found here.
Aren’t these little flying geese so cute? I assembled mine the traditional way. I couldn’t stitch these up without my favorite tools. I use Aurifil thread for all of my piecing and quilting. I use 50 weight the most. It is so versatile and stitches up beautifully. I use my favorite 2021 white!
I also use what I call the pressing dream team! I use my pink mini Oliso iron to press all of my blocks. Then I place my Riley Blake Designs clapper on top of all of my blocks. This keeps my seams nice and flat. Flying geese can get kind of bluky where the seams meet. The clapper helps with that!
And my Happenstance blocks are finished! I absolutely love that navy print. It looks like I fussy cut that flower. We are just going to call that a happy accident! Those green rainbows are cute too!
I found this little sewing box at IKEA. I am using it to store all of my blocks for this Serendipity quilt. It is starting to get full as we are nearing the end!
