Hi and welcome to the last row of the Serendipity quilt with Fat Quarter Shop! I can’t believe we are almost finished with this quilt! I can’t wait to show you the finished quilt in a couple of weeks!
Every year Fat Quarter Shop participates in a charity quilt along. This year they are asking for donations for Make-a-Wish Central and South Texas.
I chose to make the Serendipity quilt with Bonnie and Camille’s Shine On fabric. I am a huge Bonnie and Camille fan! These prints are so fun to sew with. I am also sewing with my favorite Aurifil thread. I use 50 wt. for piecing and quilting. I am using 2021 since I am using white as the background for this quilt.
Release 7 is called the Jackpot block! You can find the block for free here. The center is a fun economy block. You can use 3″ Square in a square Quilt Block Foundation paper to assemble the center. Or you can assemble it the traditional way. The pattern explains both!
I assembled my economy block centers using what I call the pressing dream team! I love my mini pink Oliso iron. It gets super hot and is the perfect size to keep by my machine! After I press my blocks, I place my Riley Blake Designs clapper on top of my blocks. It keeps them nice and flat! Especially with a block like the Economy block which tends to have more bulk. If you haven’t tried out the pressing dream team, give it a shot!
And we hit the Jackpot with these blocks! I love the navy rainbow accents! Can you guess which block is my favorite? It’s a tie! I love the mums- so green and yellow!
I have been collecting my blocks in this sewing box from Ikea. It is so cute and fun! These Jackpot blocks are the final touch for this quilt. I can’t wait to show you my finished quilt next month!
