Alma Quilt QAL week 1

Welcome to week one of the Alma Quit QAL! This week is my favorite part…picking out fabric!

I have a slight obsession with fabric. I think most sewists and quilters can relate. I love picking out fabric for a new project. And the Alma quilt is no different.

Alma Quilt

The first Alma quilt I made was with ombre pinks. This is perfect for Valentine’s Day. Or if you are like us, we have pink out all year round. I have 5 daughters which explains all the pink!

Confetti Cotton- Pinks

I used Riley Blake Designs Confetti Cottons for this quilt. The pinks I used are as follows:

Riley Burgundy, Cranberry, Riley Raspberry, Peony, and Riley Baby Pink.

Baby Alma Quilt

I also made two rainbow versions of the Baby Alma Quilt. I designed these with Rainbow babies in mind. If you want to read all about these quilts, you can check out this blog post.

Baby Alma Traditional Rainbow

I used Riley Blake Designs Confetti Cottons for both rainbow versions. For my traditional rainbow, I used:

Blueberry, Sea Glass, Beehive, Salmon, and Riley Raspberry.

Baby Alma Modern Rainbow

I also wanted to make a more modern/muted rainbow. I used Confetti Cottons again. The colors I used are:

Stargazer, Lodgepole, Curry, Canyon Rose, and Frosting.

Alma Quilt fabric for the QAL

And I am making another Alma Quilt for the quilt along! I chose some greenish/mint colors so I can leave it out all the way through March! I am using Confetti Cottons by Riley Blake Designs for this one too! (If you want to see how I made these fabric swatches, you can check out this blog post here.) The colors I am using are: Jade, Alpine, Leaf, Sweet Mint and Hint of Mint.

If you want to be entered into the giveaway this week (which is a gift certificate to Fat Quarter Shop, make sure you post a pic on Instagram and use the hashtag #almaquiltqal.

You can follow along on Instagram and Facebook too! And if you want to see what I am up to you can follow me on Pinterest and subscribe to my new YouTube channel!

Chirp Out!
