Summer Moon Quilt Along- November

The Holidays are fast approaching and it is BANANAS!!! Are you feeling the Holiday crunch? I love the Holidays. It is my favorite time of year, but with Thanksgiving so late this year, I am feeling the crazy. And to add to the crazy, my rainbow baby celebrated her 3rd birthday…on Thanksgiving!

So truth be told, I am behind on my blocks! Yikes! I did manage to complete the Four X’s Block.

Four X’s Block

This block is similar to an Ohio Star block, which is my favorite block. I can’t decide which one is my favorite! I love the red and green as we head into Christmas! But aqua and red will always have my heart!

All the rest of my blocks are in pieces! haha. Thank goodness for a never ending January. (Doesn’t January seem to go on forever?) I plan on catching up my blocks in then.

Summer Moon Quilt

I plan on using my hoarded Bonnie and Camille fabric to complete this quilt! I spent the time organizing my scraps at the beginning of this quilt along. It took a bit of time to organize my scraps. But now, when I need a 2.5″ block, I just have to grab that bag of scraps. This has simplified the process of choosing fabrics.

Thanks for following along!

Summer Moon Quilt Along

I am kicking off a new Quilt Along today. I am sewing along with the Summer Moon Quilt Along with Fat Quarter Shop. This beautiful book is written by Carrie Nelson. She has outdone herself! The kits for this quilt along sold out super fast at Fat Quarter Shop! So I am using my Bonnie and Camille scraps to sew this quilt up.

I started by organizing all of my scraps! Whew! That was quite the feat! I measured them and divided them into different size ziplock bags. It has made a world of difference in selecting fabrics for this quilt along. I just look at the pattern and pick up the size bag that the pattern calls for. It is so much better than digging through a never ending bin of scraps. I swear the scraps multiply! Ha ha

The other thing that has helped a ton with this quilt along is my Oliso iron! I have two! The regular size and the mini. I use them both! The big iron is perfect for when I have a bunch of blocks to press at once like the HST pictured here. I have the mini iron set up next to my sewing machine. I can then quickly press as I am sewing. It is perfect for all of the mini pieces found in this quilt! And the best part, they are both pink!

So do you want to see my blocks from the first month?

First up is the Album block. I loved using all of these prints! There are some oldies, but goodies found in these blocks!

Churn Dash Block. I hate to be a little biased, but those birds are my absolute favorite! And its a good thing Bonnie and Camille are re-releasing those birds in their Early Bird fabric because I am just about out of them!

Fool’s Puzzle Block. This one was a little more tricky for me to assemble. I did love using little bits of Hello Darling in these blocks. That is probably my favorite Bonnie and Camille line!

And here they are all together. This is going to be one happy quilt!
